We met Elian while on a mission trip to Tanzania and we were staying at the guesthouse run by the Franciscan Sisters of St. Bernadette. One of the sisters asked us to help Elian who was working in the kitchen and bringing us hot water in the mornings. She wanted to attend secondary school but did not have the money. Elian was sponsored at St. Joseph and Bukoba Secondary Schools. Ten years after we agreed to help Elian, she graduated from Sengerema Medical School with a Clinical Officer diploma. She now has a promising future and will be able to provide medical care for her patients.
